Divus Malus
Chasing rainbows in my rearview mirror
Thick fingers of rain skimming over my head
Whispering weightless emotions so
The pieces fit
But nothing nailed down
Like spikes through my feet, blood black
Ravens flying down
The curve of the tomorrow color strong, but
Falling away like shadow gold
Skin of air and tiger’s paws
The stripes become a cage
Graduated union of colors to a
Solid wall, a crust to
Crack of liquid rock simply forgetting
To become solid and the loam
To clasp the rainbow’s hand
Chasing the lanes, past the
Ones found tomorrow in the same damn place
They were today
Pacing in a cage
Can’t tell myself how the moments should be
Must be
In order for the sanity to remain
Miles of road beneath the wheels
Hotel rooms that smell the same
Wearing a path into the chunky print
Of calendar carpets
The hallucination endangers all
Small child was a pretty girl
Too much to eat and not enough smiles
Forbidden simple moments of unadulterated love
Left on an Easter morning in the back of a car
Days move into weeks
Arm around the neck
Swinging on the thoughts of tomorrow
The thin lines of emotion hang on the
Flat seat of today, the Thunderbird counting
Phoenix over and over again
Perfectio Imitor
The dream unfolds the woman
Tall and ripe in power
White in hair, white in light
In darkened halls of words she whispers
All calm and purpose she
Embraces the demon child she
Whispers that it’s time to leave
Momento mori , age to age
A small grieving
From inside ripened body love is pulled
From the depths to finger tips
Power maintains the peace she is
And always was
The impenetrable soul of everything
Perfectio Unicus
